“The enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy, but I have come that you may have life, and life to the full.” — John 10:10

It’s one of the most quoted verses out there. But what does it actually mean?

It’s important to read this verse in context, by reading what comes before and after it. In verse 9, Jesus says “I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved.”…then in verse 11, he says “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.”

For a lot of people, “life to the full” sounds like doing more, achieving more, or packing your schedule as tight as possible.

But that’s not really what Jesus was talking about. He’s actually talking about how by following Him, our lives will be saved. And He set the greatest example by literally laying down His life…for all of us.

It’s not about burnout.
It’s not about chasing everything.

It’s about sacrifice, and surrender. It’s about living with purpose.

For us, that shows up in pretty simple ways:

• being outside

• being with family

• pushing yourself a little

• serving others

That’s a big part of why JESUS SENDS exists.

It started with our kids, who naturally live this way already; full energy, full send, all in. Somewhere along the way, we realized that kind of life lines up pretty closely with what Jesus was talking about.

Not a half-lived life.
Not a careful, sit-on-the-sidelines life.

A fully-lived one.
